Audi Revolut F1 Team completed a productive Friday at Suzuka, once again showing pace near the front of the midfield. Across the opening two practice sessions for the Japanese Grand Prix, Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto worked through the team’s programme to fine-tune the setup for one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar.
Despite a technical issue in FP2 forcing a precautionary gearbox change on Gabriel’s car, the team still gathered valuable data from both sessions. That information will now be analysed trackside and back at base as preparations turn to Saturday’s final practice and Qualifying.
Nico Hülkenberg (Car 27)
FP1: P12 – 1:32.798 (26 laps)
FP2: P7 – 1:31.441 (27 laps)
Nico described it as a solid Friday, with two clean sessions, the full programme completed, and a good baseline established. He said the car feels in a decent window, giving the team a positive starting point, although the midfield looks even tighter than in the opening two races. The plan overnight is to review everything and build on a strong base heading into Saturday.
Gabriel Bortoleto (Car 5)
FP1: P11 – 1:32.759 (27 laps)
FP2: P16 – 1:31.933 (11 laps)
Gabriel said it was a mixed Friday. FP1 ran smoothly, but an issue was identified early in FP2, leading to a precautionary gearbox change as the quickest route back out. That cost valuable time in the garage, but he praised the team for an incredible effort to turn the car around and get him back on track before the end of the session.
Even with the lost running, Gabriel said the team still gathered useful insight and now has plenty to build on ahead of final practice and Qualifying.
